At this point in time, Monster Hunter has been out for a few weeks now I have given lots of tips that will help through out your monster hunting journey. In this post, I wanted to put together a list of a few things that I believe could have been overlooked by some players simply because they didn’t seem important at first or whatever the case may be. But, with everything considered and since the more you know the better, here are some things you still may not know in Monster Hunter World

Torch Pods and Torch Pods in Rotten Vale

You can repel small monsters by firing a torch pod on the ground near you. This may seem useless to you at first… that is, until you find yourself in the Rotten Vale where, while fighting a large monster, you are also taking damage from the Effluvia or the toxic gas that surrounds the area and are getting attack by the smaller monsters. Launching torch pods around the area will not only ward off the smaller monsters for a bit, but will also clear the toxic gas in a radius around it. So launching several of these around the area will allow you to clear it out and just focus the large monster.

Wall Attacks

You may know about wall attacks where you can run up certain walls and jump off to perform an aerial attack but what you may not have realized is that not only will this attack strategy almost instantly charge any charge attacks that your weapon have, but will also drastically increase your damage output. This goes for not only the bow but the charge attacks of other weapons… like the great sword. So if you utilize this then you could be potentially putting out more damage than even some of the environmental damage i.e dropping boulders on monsters’ head, but at a much faster rate.

Stop Uragaan Rollout

If you’ve fought uragaan, then you know how annoying he can be when he starts rolling all over the place. It may not look like it but you “can” use flash pods while he’s rolling and it “will” stop him from doing so.

Xeno Jiiva

In the very first area where you fight Xeno Jiiva, there are 4 crystals that you can drop on his head. Before you leave to fight him, pick up stones for your slinger from the stone pile in the camp. If you are not using a ranged weapon then use these stones to drop the crystals on his head. You have until he moves to the next area so be sure to utilize this before he moves.

Stack Fertilizer

Did you know that you can stack fertilizer effects in the Botanical Research Center? After you use a fertilizer and have completed a quest, you can come back and add an additional effect to your cultivation. This is useful since after you have added fertilizer needed to increase the number of the items you will harvest after the required time has passed, you can also add the ancient catalyst fertilizer to speed up the cultivation and the Soft Soil to extend the durations of those fertilizer effects.

Hunter Notes

You may know by now to talk to the Ecologist to update your research level and get intel on monsters… like their weak spots and elemental weakness. However, you don’t need to visit him to get this info. You can also view these things from your hunter’s Notes. You can even use the map here to go on expeditions or fast travel to any of the bases regardless of where you are.

Break Grab Attacks

Use flash pods when grabbed by monsters. In previous monster hunters, if you found yourself in the middle of a monsters grab attack, you could use a dung bomb and it will immediately release you. In Monster Hunter World you can do something similar using flash pods. Once you get grabbed and thrown down to the ground by monsters like the Anjanath and the Rathalos you can then take that opportunity to land an easy flash.

Speed up Handler

When talking to the handler, hold R1 to speed up the animation of her opening up her book.

Diablos Bomb Trap

When the Diablos go underground, place a bomb down and move away. If he is targeting you, he will always come up from the area that you moved from and activate the bomb, thus taking damage in the process.

How to Aim Wall Attacks

Now some of you were wondering how to aim your attack after doing a wall jump. You can do this by simply holding the left analog stick in the direction you want to attack after you jump off the wall.

Stop Teostra Ultimate Attack

You can use the crystalburst slinger ammo to stop the supernova attack of the Teostra. You can find these on the ground in area 8.

Sharing Items

I noticed that some people was not aware, but you can give items to your teammates but only items that are of rarity 4 or lower.

Mine Radobaan and Uragaan

Most of you know by now that you can mine the backs of the radobaan and uragaan but if you knock them over and can’t reach the back, you can still mine from the stomach.
