Confused about how to take the seed of silver to the invasion site (contact point) on IO or Titan and how to decode umbral engrams? I was too. Umbral Engrams are a new type of engrams introduced in the Seasons of Arrivals. At this time I’m still discovering what type of things are contained in these type of engrams.
But moving on, the first thing to know is that you have to complete the seed of silver quest first in order to unlock umbral engram decoding. You probably didn’t notice it but there’s a marker on the map for IO that shows where it is.
Make your way
Fast travel to the nearest point. Follow the marker and make your way to the contact area. You will see a small triangular ship with an indicator to start the quest underneath it.
Once you activate it, you will get invaded by waves of enemies and that with be the start of the Gambit-style objective you will have to do in order to complete the mission. Kill the enemies, get the motes, deposit the motes.
You do need to be at lease light level 990. Don’t run in there with a character that is below that like I did. Luckly for me, there were strong guardians around that did the heavy lifting for me.
Once you complete the quest, head back to the Drifter. He’ll talk and laugh at you but will allow you to decrypt umbral engrams in the Umbral Decoder located to the left of him. When I decrypted my umbral engrams, I received the Jian 7 Rifle Pulse rifle and a Dead End Cure 2.1 helmet.
