There are four elements inside Anthem. Each one has its own property. The four elements are lightning, fire, acid and ice.

Once we get to the raids and more challenging missions, this information will become very important. Especially since, with the exception of the Ranger, not all Javelins can use every element. This may add a lot of value to the RPG aspect of this game.

With all that said, here’s how each one functions:

Elemental Functions

Ice

If used against enemies that have energy shields, it does bonus damage to that shield. Freeze enemies with no shields in place giving you a chance to combo or dps.

Lightning

If used against enemies that have energy shields, it does bonus damage to that shield. Applies a status to an enemy which will then damage any near by enemies.

Fire

If used against enemies that have physical shields, it does bonus damage to that shield. Does damage over time to enemies with no shield.

Acid

If used against enemies that have physical shields, it does bonus damage to that shield. Weakens enemies with no shields causing them to take more damage.

Ability Damage Types

This chart created by FireDragon04 (in collaboration with others) gives us an idea of what elemental property each ability has and which element each Javelin is capable of using. As you can see, there are some Javelins who don’t have abilities with certain elements.

So far, the only things with elemental properties are abilities. I would say that weapons will not have elemental properties. If they do, then my guess is that they will only be on high tier level weapons and this will be something to consider when building your loadouts and crafting.
