When I first learned about the Guiding Lands, I didn’t think that the area would be as unique as it is. It has monsters that have new moves that are exclusive to this area, exclusive monsters and exclusive materials. In this post, I’m going to go over how to mine and gather in the Guiding Lands.
Not only are there specific items in each area but there is also a leveling system to get some of the rare mining points and bonepiles. I will list all the unique materials in each area and explain the leveling system for mining and gathering bonepiles. I also plan to do a guide showing where each of the mining and bonepile points are so look out for that.

Mining and Bonepile Leveling System
Now you may be wondering what giant mining outcrops are. This is where the leveling system comes into play. Open up your map and on the right hand side you will see your leveling progress for each area.
Press right and it will show you the leveling progress for mining and bones. This is what you want to pay attention to here.
To level up each resource for each area, just go to that area and mine or gather bone piles. Mining will level up the mining resource and gathering bones will level up the bonepile resource and will reward higher tier level rewards the more you gather from them.
Once you fill the meter all the way, a message will appear that will say “giant mining outcrops” for the mining resource or giant bone outcrops for the bone resource and will reset the level. Step and repeat.
That means that somewhere in that specific region is a giant mine or bonepile outcrop that will give you a rare item. They look like these:
Do this for all areas. There is a trophy you will get at some point for grabbing these. I think you can get them to spawn after reporting your investigation to the handler. I did this one time and 3 spawned at the same time. One in 3 of the 4 regions.
To speed up the leveling process, you can use the Geologist skill. It increases the number of times you can use gathering points. Bonepiles are a bit harder to level up than mining so this will definitely help.
