First off, let me start by saying that they actually give you plenty of time for this mission so take your time. He does have a few new moves so you may need to play a few times to get used to them. Other than that his patterns are the same, just more deadly. So here are 5 tips on how to defeat Arch-Tempered Nergigante. Then there’s a link to my gameplay video where I take him down using the bow.
Heat guard is a must
He will spend a lot of time in areas where lava is. That chip damage the lava does just makes this quest much harder. Use the clearmind charm or wear the Kulve Taroth’s Wrath y leg armor from Arch-Tempered Kulve Taroth. It gives you Heat Guard.
Do most of your fighting when wearing a mantle
As stated above, you don’t need to rush too much. You can wait til you have either your Temporal Mantle or Rocksteady Mantle. Then attack aggressively and try to do the bulk of your damage there.
Ear Plugs
I want to say that Arch-Tempered Nergigante’s dive bomb is a guaranteed one shot, but I was sure not to get hit by it so I can’t say for sure. You don’t want to get hit by it either way. Wear level 5 earplugs so you have time to dodge it when he does it.
Use Fortify
That level one decoration probably shouldn’t be a level one decoration. It increases your attack by 10 percent and (more importantly) your defense by 15 percent. It stacks twice (20% atk/30%def) and some people purposely allow a monster to cart them twice to make the mission easier. In this case, if Arch-Tempered Nergigante carts you, the mission gets easier.
Increase your defense as high as possible
He hits hard, that’s for sure. Make sure your armor is augmented and maxed out. Use only rarity 8 gear. The defense on my gear without any buffs is at 511.
Increase your health as high as possible
I usually always go with health boost level 3. It make it harder to get one-shotted (his dive bomb may still one shot you. I didn’t allow it to hit me so I can’t tell you if it does). His tail sweep seems to take out a lot of people. Health boost should allow you to survive that. Equip 3 vitality jewels.
Defeating Nergigante will give you the tickets you need to craft the Nergigante y armor and the Ryu layered armor.
