As gamers, we’ve developed a habit where we compare new games with other games that have released. The first thing we think of when we see Elden Ring is Dark Souls. There’s no denying that it gives off those types of vibes.
However, given recent information, we may want to move away from that state of mind. Yes, the game has a lot of Dark Souls-like elements, but the game is definitely going in a different direction.
Elden Ring Release date?
Elden Ring is set to release on January 21, 2022, to all almost platforms (yes, last-gen consoles and PC). Not to Nintendo Switch. It’s a bit of a way away but it’s right at the beginning of the new year. I think it would be a good time to release it. It would be winter in certain parts of the world. A good game to keep us occupied as we hibernate indoors.
Plot
The official website gives us a short narrative that gives us an idea of what will happen or what we will be doing on our adventure.
The Golden Order has been broken.
Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.
Marika’s offspring, demigods all, claimed the shards of the Elden Ring known as the Great Runes, and the mad taint of their newfound strength triggered a war: The Shattering. A war that meant abandonment by the Greater Will.
And now the guidance of grace will be brought to the Tarnished who were spurned by the grace of gold and exiled from the Lands Between. Ye dead who yet live, your grace long lost, follow the path to the Lands Between beyond the foggy sea to stand before the Elden Ring. And become the Elden Lord.
Gameplay (Combat, etc)
According to creator Hidetaka Miyazaki in an interview with Xbox Wire, Elden Ring will be a vast open-world third-person action RPG with an increase in the depth and freedom of exploration. It will have character customization elements that will allow players to design and control their own unique character. Other things that the title will include are a weather system with day/night cycles and a wide variety of weapons, magic, and ways to engage enemies, that make it possible to provide users with a style of gameplay and strategy that suits them.
It is a world full of danger and threats, as well as many areas ripe for exploration. In those areas, you will find intricately designed, multi-layered castles, vast fantastical landscapes, and shadowy, complex dungeons that are connected seamlessly.
Multiplayer?
Players will be able to traverse the world on foot or on horseback, alone or online with other players. Not only that, but they will be able to explore the world with up to four players. Not sure if the game will have a PvP element, but personally four-player co-op is enough for me.
