Season of the Deep: 10 Upcoming Changes to Refresh Your Memory

With Season 21 days away, now is an excellent time to refresh our minds on some key changes that will come with the update. Preparation for this season will be different, as you won’t need to do certain things like hoard bounties for XP. You may, however, want to pick up the Rose since it’s the last available weapon in the pool of weapons being rotated out.

If you’re reading this after Season 21 has launched, this will serve as a refresher of all changes. If you’re reading this before the launch of Season 21, then Guardian Games are currently active and The Title and Taraxippos are up for grabs. Get your god rolls; the event ends at the start of Season 21.

10 Upcoming Changes to Refresh Your Memory in Season of the Deep

season of the deep

3 New Strand Aspects. 1 for Each Class

  • Hunters will get the Threaded Specter Aspect, which leaves behind a decoy woven from Strand matter and draws the attention of nearby combatants when activating your class ability. When destroyed, a Threaded Specter explodes into two Threadlings.
  • Titans will get Flechette Storm, allowing you to activate your charged melee ability while sliding to leap into the air, knocking nearby targets away and damaging them. While in the air, activate your charged melee again to launch a cluster of damaging, Unraveling projectiles that can be repeated to chain additional throws.
  • Warlocks get The Wanderer. Tangles you throw attach to enemies and detonate into a suspending burst. Threadling final blows create a Tangle.

Stasis, Strand, and Light Subclass buffs

All Supers are getting an increase in PvE damage resistance by 20%.

Hunters

  • Hunter Golden Gun, Arc Staff, and Spectral Blades are getting a buff of 20% in PvE. The Spectral Blades heavy attack also weakens targets on hit and the issue of the right-hand Spectral Blade attacks failing to connect when attacking at maximum attack speed was fixed.
  • Gathering Storm is getting an increase in damage on direct impact. Delayed lightning strike damage vs. players increased from 300 to 500. Lingering lightning ticks increased from 40 to 60 and deals increased damage to Well of Radiance and Ward of Dawn.

Titans

  • Fists of Havoc light attack cost reduced from 8.5% to 6%. Heavy attack cost reduced from 18% to 12%. Increased heavy attack PvE damage by 33%. Heavy attack now blinds targets near the center of the slam area.
  • Glacial Quake gets increased Shiver Strike thrust speed while in Super by 10% and increased light attack damage by 20%.
  • Sentinel Shield gets increased PvE damage by 20%. Hammer of Sol gets increased PvE damage by 10% and Burning Maul gets increased PvE damage by 10%. Burning Maul now creates a Sunspot on cast when Sol Invictus is equipped. Heavy attack cyclone now applies scorch over time.

Warlocks

  • Nova Warp gets increased PvE damage by 15%. A fully charged attack now makes enemies Volatile on hit.
  • Nova Bomb gets a PvE damage increased by 20%.
  • Stormtrance gets increased PvE damage by 25%. Damage ramp while attacking now occurs more quickly (over 3 seconds, down from 5), and Landfall detonation and seekers now jolt targets.
  • Chaos Reach gets increased PvE damage by 25%. Sustained damage on a single target now creates a jolting lightning strike at the target’s location. It also gets increased damage resistance vs. players from 40% to 50%, increased maximum strafe speed from 3.5m/s to 4.5m/s, and an adjusted Super camera to avoid the player’s body blocking view of targets when strafing.
  • Winter’s Wrath gets increased PvE damage by 10%.
  • Daybreak gets an adjusted Super camera to allow the player to look down further and avoid VFX blocking the view of targets when moving quickly.

There are more changes coming. To keep this post relatively short, I won’t go over all the changes. You can view all other changes on Bungie.net.

No power cap increase

Yep, that’s right. There won’t be a power increase. You don’t need to hoard bounties unless you plan to get a jump into the season pass.

Exotic armor focusing and decryption

Master Rahool will have an Exotic armor focusing and decryption system coming in Season 21. This system should allow you to roll for high stat point Exotic armor. For more info, visit Bungie.net.

Pinnacle drop changes

Since there won’t be a power increase, there will be less of a need for pinnacle drops. Bungie will replace pinnacle drops with a focusable Power Exotic engram.

Weapons rotating in and out

Mindbender’s Ambition, The Militia’s Birthright, The Inquisitor, Whistler’s Whim, The Wizened Rebuke, The Hero’s Burden, and Rose will all be leaving in Season 21. Braytech Osprey, Loaded Question, Positive Outlook, “a Gambit Strand Linear Fusion Rifle”, Randy’s Throwing Knife, “a Trials Arc Glaive”, The Messenger, “an Iron Banner Strand Fusion Rifle”, Swarm of the Raven, and “a competitive playlist Arc Sniper Rifle” will all be entering in Season 21.

FINEST MATTERWEAVE AND RAINMAKER DEPRECATION

These will be leaving next season. Matterweave can be dismantled for an enhancement core each and Rainmaker can be dismantled for 3,000 glimmer.

Vanguard Bounties

Vanguard bounties will require twice as many kills to complete, but they can be done anywhere in the game. Activities in there Vanguard playlist will have increased progress. New bounties will be added.

Season pass price change

The price for the season pass is increasing. The season pass will now be 1,200 silver. The season pass plus 10 ranks bundle will now be 2,200 silver.

Trials Rewards and key info

Trials will have a chance for players to unlock new Exotic cosmetic rewards when opening the Lighthouse rewards chest. The Messenger and the Unexpected Resurgence Adaptive Arc Glaive will be added to the loot pool. For other info about the changes being made to Trials, visit Bungie.net.

That’s a quick rundown on changes coming in Season of the Deep. We’ll see how these changes shake things up. Season 21, Season of the Deep, will launch on May 23, 2023.
