Offhand Strike is Better Than We Think | Destiny 2
If you’re like me you’ve probably been dismantling weapons that come with Offhand Strike thinking that it’s not very useful. However, this thing is like a different version of Kill Clip without the reloading requirement. It doesn’t increase your damage, but it does increase the range at which you can wipe someone off the face of the earth. And it all happens after you get a kill.
What’s Offhand Strike?
Offhand Strike gives you 7 seconds of 30 stability, 1.45x damage falloff start and end distance, 3-3.5° precision aim angle, -95% accuracy cone size, and accuracy cone growth according to light.gg”. Now for me, that accuracy cone stuff flies over my head. All I know is that when you hip-fire aim and shoot a player outside a gun’s optimal 1-tap kill range, they die.
Weapon classes you should aim for with this perk are shotguns and fusion rifles. High-Impact fusions can 1-hit kill from insane distances. I haven’t seen how they work on sidearms, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this perk was insane on those as well.
Is it lowkey meta?
I wouldn’t say that this perk is overpowered or meta. It’s just good under the right circumstances. You get 7 seconds after getting a kill with a weapon with this perk. If you’ve taken damage, then you may need to waste most of that time to disengage and heal.
Aside from that, this perk allows you to do a high amount of damage at a further range. Destiny is a game where the skill gap shrinks the closer you get to your opponent. Being lethal at a further range is always great.
I recommend that you go into your vault and try all weapons with Offhand Strike. Next time Iron Banner rolls around, grab one on the fusion rifle. The next time the Dawning comes around, grab one on that fusion rifle as well if it’s available.
