At the point of writing this article, this character has not been confirmed by Respawn. However, players datamining information on things not yet release is nothing new. I’ve seen plenty of this during my coverage of Monster Hunter World.
Octane was datamined to be one of the new fighters coming to Apex Legends. It is estimated that he will release with the anticipated Battle Pass that is expected to release some time in march.
Octane Abilities

Swift Mend (passive)– While not taking damage, Octane restores health over time.
This may come in handy depending on how it works. How much health he recovers is still a question here. This may also allow him to not need to worry about carrying health item as much, but we will see.
Adrenalin Junkie (tactical)- Move 30 percent faster for 6 seconds. Cost 10 percent health. Immune to slows while active.
This is huge. That immune to slows will allow him to move through some fighters ultimates and abilities (Caustic, Bangalore).
I believe slows are really strong in this game. If you’re running and someone shoots you with an auto rifle from behind, the damage will slow you, basically giving them better tracking.
I don’t believe this should be a thing. I believe you should have the opportunity to maneuver away if you’re quick enough. But this does make Bangalore’s passive strong.
Launch Pad (Ultimate)- Deployable jump pad that catapults users through the air.
The questions here is how high? Can enemy players use it? Do your jets activate similar to how it is at the beginning when you drop in?
There are definitely some tactics that can be used with this. You can drop in on unsuspecting players. You can use it to gain high ground advantage.
All in all, players who love high mobility characters will love Octane. I’m sure his back story will come with his release. It will be interesting to see what skins he will have and what his voice lines will be.
