Destiny 2: 4 Underused Weapons That You Should Try in the Crucible
Image from Destiny the Game Twitter
Even though this post is useful regardless of class, I believe Hunters will find the most success using them. I say this because most of these are long range options. Titans and Warlocks have options at close range to wipe you out in one (or close to one) hit (shoulder charge, charged melee, etc). Therefore, as a Hunter, most of the time distance is your friend.
These weapons are weapons that I’ve picked up recently, and to my surprise, have served me well. I feel that some weapons are lowkey (secretly) good. Bungie changes the sandbox often and I think some weapons become powerful as a result, but sit in everyone’s vault.
These weapons I feel are a product of the sandbox changes. It’s also possible that they were always good but was snuffed out by metas of past seasons. In any case, here are the 4 underused weapons that you should try in the Crucible.
IRUKANDJI
First, I should mention that rapid-fires as a whole are underused in PVP due to the fact that they suffer from range drop off and it takes three body shots to kill. However, not only did Bungie come out with a change to address the body shot thing, this sniper can roll with Keep Away and Opening Shot to bump up that range. Also, you really don’t want to be taking body shot anyway with snipers.
I’m a person who struggle with other snipers in PVP. One day I’m on fire. Cold the next.
I snipe comfortably with this thing. It could be that I prefer the shorter zoom that comes with these archetypes. And as a Hunter, I can keep my distance.
You get this from the Gunsmith. If he’s selling one with Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Keep Away or Under Pressure (preferably Keep Away) and Opening Shot, pick it up immediately. No, this isn’t craftable.
Come To Pass
I feel like we’re secretly in an auto rifle meta. They feel strong when I go up against them in the Crucible. Autos were touched in the sandbox at some point, but they probably didn’t shine as much due to other archetypes stealing the spotlight.
So I tried out the Come To Pass and it feels pretty strong. It’s now one of my go-to’s in PVP. As a matter of fact, as I was writing this, a Destiny streamer on YouTube had freshly released a video on this same gun.
EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE
If I was in the Destiny universe, this sidearm would be to me what the Ace of Spades is to Cayde-6. I love Encore and Adagio on this thing. You get a kill and this thing almost feels like a two-burst hand cannon.
When it first launched, there was an issue with the stability, but that was fixed. This weapon has some crazy aim assistance and can get high range stat. Good recoil with a base recoil direction of 98.
Glissando-47
The only scout that can roll both Keep Away AND Box Breathing, turning this thing into a 3 tap monster at extremely far ranges. As a matter of fact, if this ever gets sold by Banshee again, I will remain silent. I dread a Crucible where everyone is using this.
You all however, will know to pick it up after reading this. You’ll have to play a passive play style though. Once Box Breathing kick in and you get that first head shot, it’s easy sailing from there. This gun with that perk combo is good for map control on Disjunction.
Give these weapons a try and come back. Let me know how they’re serving you. Remember to use Targeting and Unflinching mods.
