CD Projekt Red “Must” Allow An Attribute Reset for Phantom Liberty

Maybe my title doesn’t express the level of importance of an attribute reset for Phantom Liberty well. Perhaps it should say CD Projekt Red “better” allow a reset, or “it would be a mistake if they didn’t” allow one. I apologize if any of that sounds too aggressive, but I need to drive the point home.

I’m not sure why they haven’t allowed it in the base game. It isn’t like it influences events or dialog that happen during the main story. Even if this is simply a decision they’ve made, one that they’re going to put their foot down on, they “must” lift that foot up for Phantom Liberty.

Why they must allow an attribute reset

They need to because of all the well-needed changes and overhauls made to the game and are coming with Phantom Liberty and update 1.7. You can’t give the skill tree an overhaul and not allow an attribute reset. You can’t swap armor from clothing to cyberware and not allow an attribute reset. Not to mention cyberware capacity and new weapons, some of which will be considered illegal.

Additionally, some players on Cyberpunk forums mentioned that their characters’ build was rendered useless or unusable after recent changes. Having to create a new character just to build the correct attributes may turn some away from playing any further. Especially for those that don’t have much time to invest in playing.

Regardless of whether or not we will have the ability to reset in Phantom Liberty, they need to communicate this information beforehand. If it turns out that we are unable to reset, players may consider taking the time before the expansion to create a new character and prepare it for when the expansion is released. Although again, I believe not allowing players to reset would be a bad idea.

They should indeed consider allowing everyone to reset, even if it’s a one-time option. They could potentially introduce it as a feature that can be accessed through the black market. However, I’m all for them making it a permanent feature of the black market. It will allow players to change their playstyle at any time.
