In this post, I will show you all the key quest you need to do in order to progress in Monster Hunter Rise. If you’re new to Monster Hunter games, just know that you don’t need to do all the quest to progress through the story. Only certain quests are required.
By all means, there’s no rush. If you want to do all the quest, do it. Especially if you’re a completionist type player and like to hit every check point. Plus you’ll get more materials and rewards than you would only doing the key quest. But in any case, here are all the required quest.
Monster Hunter Rise Key Quest
1 Star Key Quest
Roly-poly Lanterns– (Deliver 8 Firelanterns). Unlock by clearing the Back to Basics village quest.
Fungai Frustrations– (Deliver 8 Unique Mushrooms). Unlock by clearing the Back to Basics village quest.
Unpious Peons– (Slay 8 Jagras). Unlock by clearing the Back to Basics village quest.
Once you clear those, an urgent quest will unlock.
Urgent Quest
Great Izuchi, Great Pain– (Hunt a Great Izuchi). Clear 2 of the 1 star key quest to unlock.
2 Star Key Quest
Grizzly Glutton– (Hunt an Arzuros). Unlock by completing the Great Izuchi, Great Pain urgent quest above.
Plump and Jucy– (Deliver 10 Raftshells). Unlock by completing the Great Izuchi, Great Pain urgent quest above.
A Frosty Paradise– (Slay 10 Baggi). Unlock by completing the Great Izuchi, Great Pain urgent quest above.
Out Cold– (Hunt a Great Baggi). Unlock by completing the Great Izuchi, Great Pain urgent quest above.
Rabid Rabbit– (Hunt a Lagombi). Unlock by completing the Great Izuchi, Great Pain urgent quest above.

Feathered Frenzy– (Hunt an Aknosom). Clear 3 of the 2 star key quest to unlock.
Urgent Quest
The Rampage Approaches– (Defend the final gate). Unlocks after Feathered Frenzy.
3 Star Key Quest
Cant Stomach the Thought– (Hunt a Tetranadon). Unlocks after Feathered Frenzy.
Walking on Eggshells– (Hunt a Kulu-Ya-Ku). Unlocks after Feathered Frenzy.
Fightin’ Dirty– (Hunt a Barroth). Unlocks after Feathered Frenzy.
Obnoxious Lord, Noxious Monster– (Hunt a Great Wroggi). Unlocks after Feathered Frenzy.
Spongy Oasis– (Hunt a Royal Ludroth). Unlocks after Feathered Frenzy.
Urgent Quest
Monkey Wrench in Your Plans– (Hunt a Bishanten). Clear 4 of the 3 star key quest.
4 Star Key Quest
Infernal Lacrimosa- (Hunt a Somnacanth). Unlocks after Monkey Wrench in Your Plans.
Raging Whiteout- (Hunt a Barioth).
The Queen’s Procession- (Hunt a Rathian).
Streaking Shadow- (Hunt a Tobi-Kadachi).
A Song of Red and Fire- (Hunt a Volvidon).
Off Your Rocker- (Hunt a Basarios).
Urgent Quest
Comeuppance– (Hunt a magnamalo). Clear 5 of the 4 star key quest.
5 Star Key Quest
Wind Speed Wyvern– (Hunt a Nargacuga). Unlocks after Comeuppance.
Electrifying Ephiphany– (Hunt a Zinogre).
Nocturnal Tracker– (Hunt a Anjanath).
Waltzing by Moonlight– (Hunt a Mizutsune).
Rathalos Alert– (Hunt a Rathalos).
Urgent Quest
Hermit of the Swamp– (Hunt a Almudron). Clear 4 of the 5 star key quest.
