Snagging motes from your teammates

If you’re playing Gambit and you’re that guy that slides in front of your teammate just to try to snag a mote before he/she does, then you could be hurting your team’s chance to win. You should know by now that banking 5 motes puts a small blocker on the enemy team’s side. 10 motes for medium and 15 for large. If your teammate has a high number of motes and you snag some away from him, they now have to go else where to find motes. Which means longer time for them to bank.

Lets say they have 14 and you snag that last mote they were going for. While they are searching for one more mote, the enemy team could send over a blocker and invade. Your teammate could then get killed by a Sleeper shot and lose all 14 motes. All of which could have been avoided if he/she would have got that last mote so they can go to the bank.

Not looking at the number of motes your teammates/ the enemy has.

If you’re sliding in front of a teammate and taking motes, chances are you’re not paying attention to how many motes they have. If they have collected a high amount of them and you only have a few, then it may be best to let them have all motes in the area. Again, the faster they bank, the less time the enemy have to stop them from banking. The number above their head indicates how many motes they have.

If you invade the enemy side then always look for the enemy that has the most motes and kill him if possible. Vise versa, if an enemy invades do not let him kill you. Especially if you have a high number of motes. If you don’t have many motes, then fight the enemy player and stop him from killing your team. Especially if one of your team members have a high number of motes.

Using your Super at the wrong times

There are only 4 times you should be using your super

  • If you have it at the very beginning of the match to kill enemies
  • To kill invaders if they are coming after you and you have a high amount of motes
  • To kill enemies that have a lot of motes
  • When its time to burn down the Primeval

Ideally, you want to have your super for when the Primeval comes. If you have your super at the beginning of the match, it will recharge by the time the Primeval comes. Kill enemy players to protect your motes or kill players with a lot of motes if you need to. Protecting your motes or denying them motes is important.

There are times when I see people use their super when it wasn’t needed. For example, if you invade and you don’t see anyone with a high amount of motes, using your super is pointless. Just use your guns.

Vice versa, if the enemy invades and are coming after you but you don’t have many motes, don’t use your super. It’s not really that important in that situation. They didn’t deny you a ton of motes. You’re just out for a few seconds.

Not Killing the Envoys first when the Primeval comes

They are the other yellow bars that spawn with the Primeval. Every one you kill adds a damage buff. When that hits x4, the boss is ready to be melted down. 4 envoys spawn and once the 4th dies, the multiplier increases by 1x every 15ish seconds.

Not keeping the Bank clear

A good team would have one person that sticks around the bank. They will help you clear adds but primarily keeps the bank clear of any enemies the enemy team sends over. If no one is paying attention to this, then those enemies will pile up and your team will have to take more time clearing them out before you can bank.

Not going after the special targets

Special targets are enemies that have a white glow around them. They drop a TON of motes. When they announce that it has spawned in, immediate look for it. Don’t let it get away.
