3 Reasons Why Destiny Crucible Feels “Sweatier”

Everyone has noticed it. Destiny Crucible is getting a whole lot tougher. I’ve even seen the people who are known to have a high skill level in the Crucible wonder why they are not playing up to their high expectations.

When Iron Banner rolls around, things in Destiny Crucible gets even nastier. I’m talking from people getting sniper head shots on opponents that are in the middle of their blink jump to full squads of 6’s completely steamrolling the opposite team. A lot of players just push through it just to get the rewards.

So why does the Crucible feel a lot sweatier? A lot of veteran Destiny Crucible players will agree that things are a lot more challenging than they were in year one. Here are 3 Reasons why Destiny Crucible feels “Sweatier”:

1. Casual players have moved on.

Upon release, a game usually brings in two types of players: the players who becomes a fan of the series and the players who will stop playing after the hype and excitement dies down and other games come out. Casual players typically are not trying to be the best player, they are simply playing for fun and with friends. Therefore, in the beginning the Crucible had a much larger range of skill level.

2. Current players are getting better.

Remember that skill level range I talked about above? That has significantly narrowed now since all the casuals have left. This leave a lot of players who are actually playing to compete.

When I say these players are playing to compete, I mean they are hungry to find ways that will help improve their game and YouTube is full of this information. These players have studied strategy guides and tips from YouTube day in and day out. Everything from which gun has the fastest time to kill to figuring out what’s the best sniper in Destiny.

Aside from YouTube, we also have Twitch. These same players are most likely subscribed to someone who plays the Crucible at a high skill level. Therefore, if they watch these players long enough, they will eventually pick up on some things.

All of these things, aside from any fps skill they may have had prior, contributes to the tough competition you are experiencing. To be clear, I’m not saying that it is a bad thing that they are learning things from Twitch and YouTube. This is just information for your understanding.

3. There have been several buffs and nerfs since the release of Destiny

Weapon buffs, subclass nerfs, etc; all these have come and went. Not to doubt anyone’s skill, but there is a possibility that some players success in the Crucible was due to weapons and skills that gave them a significant advantage over several other players. Remember Thorn’s two hit and walk away meta? How about the blink-shotgun meta?

It may be possible that some player’s go-to setup received a nerf and they may have noticed that they are not performing as well as they once did. The nerf could have put them on a fair playing field along with all the other players, even though they may not agree with the changes. In the same instance, any buff to other players go-to setup could have given them an advantage.

On a side note, being a “sweaty player” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It just means that you are trying…. which is what you are SUPPOSED to be doing. Sweaty, is just a phrase used by pvp communities for trying hard.

There are several other things about the game that could alter the outcome of the Crucible. Red-bars, skill-based matchmaking, ghost bullets and dedicated servers needs attention. These are issues that players believe hinders them from playing to their full potential and hope will be fixed before or with the release of Destiny 2.
