The Strength of Hawkmoon’s Paracausal Shot | Destiny 2

Hawkmoon is back. But not in the way we remember it. Instead of it having random bullets that do bonus damage, it’s damage boost is more systematic.

Exotic Perk

Its intrinsic perk is now called Paracausal Shot. Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grants stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks.

Hawkmoon at default comes with a magazine of 8. That means that you can get a maximum of 7 Paracausal Charges before the Paracausal Shot. I did a test to see just how much damage you would do if you had a stack of 7 Paracausal Charges. Here’s how much damage it does.

This perk will be great for PvE. Especially when fighting bosses. Repeatedly hitting a boss in its critical spot then landing that last 7 times charged power shot will deal some serious damage.

Hawkmoon’s Exotic Perk Damage Scale in PvP?

As for PvP, I don’t think it’s a perk you should go out of your way to prioritize. Hawkmoon itself feels good to use in the Crucible, but Paracausal Charge promotes using the full clip and not reloading. That’s a dangerous game to play in the Crucible.

I’m sure you will find yourself in situations where you “can” utilize it, but be careful not to get caught without ammo in the clip.

As for the damage, I hit a body shot on a guardian with 4 charges and it did 125 damage.

I’ve seen someone else hit with the same amount of charges and do the same amount of damage. I also saw them hit a 5 charge body shot for 175.

I overheard someone say that if you have 6 charges you’ll do around 220 damage. They didn’t specify, but I assume that was a body shot.

They also said that with 7 charges you’ll do around 450 headshot and 281 body shot. It appears that this might be flat damage and doesn’t take resilience into consideration.

So with that said, with the information that I’ve gathered, the damage scales like this:

• 4 charges= 125 body (unsure for head)
• 5 charges= 175 body (unsure for head)
• 6 charges= 220 body (assumably)
• 7 charges= 450 head and 281 body

Hawkmoon has the ability to drop with random rolls. Right now I’m unsure of what rolls it can get and if there are any rolls that may make this perk even more effective.
