The Return of a Nightmare: Could Necrocasm Return in Destiny 2 Season 22?

Today in the mysterious world of Hallowpeak, we are talking about a weapon that was the stuff of nightmares in Destiny 1.

If you will allow me a minute of your time, I would like to tell you a short story. A story about my struggle to obtain this weapon 8 years ago back in Destiny 1. Before I tell you this story, you first need to know that this is an exotic weapon but you had to level it up.

It started off as a gray weapon (Husk of the Pit) then leveled up to a legendary (Eidolon Ally) before becoming exotic.

I woke up one morning, I was off work that day, and on a mission to get the first version of this gun; the Husk of the Pitt. Mind you, this was back when Bungie did not do a good job of taking your time into consideration. To get this gun, you had to kill a Blade of Crota.

Here’s the crazy part. You could kill this guy and get this gun on the first try. However, it could also drop on your 500th try. It took me over 200 tries.

That’s 200 times that I had to reload into the mission that contained this enemy and kill him over and over again. Other people said that they got it on their second try. One guy said it took him 358 tries.

Why do you think the Necrocasm may make a return in Destiny 2?

Firstly, if it does return to Destiny 2, I do not think that it will be as hard to get as back then. Bungie most likely will not put us through that again. They eventually made it easier to obtain back in Destiny 1.

The reason why I believe there’s a possibility of it returning is that we are getting a reprised raid in season 22. There are rumors and speculation that it will ‘most likely’ be Crota’s End.

Back then, in order to level this weapon into an exotic, you needed a material called the Crux of Crota. You got that by defeating Crota on hard mode. If Crota’s end returns, then there’s a possibility that Necrocasm will return.

Will it be the same?

Back then it had a high rate of fire. It most likely would be considered a rapid fire in Destiny 2, but in Destiny, I believe it had a higher rate of fire than rapid fires in Destiny 2.

If my theory is true, Bungie can do several things with it:

• Bring it in line with current rapid-fire weapons
• Keep the same rate of fire and introduce a new archetype
• Keep the same rate of fire and make that its exotic perk
• Completely change it and its exotic perk for Destiny 2

They may make it a rapid-fire and reintroduce it with a new exotic perk. We may not need a Crux of Crota. They could just add it to the loot pool for Crota’s End.

All this is conjecture however and based on the speculation of the next reprised raid being Crota’s End. At this point, we have no confirmation of which raid it will be or if Necrocasm will return in Destiny 2. And again, if it does and the process of getting it is the same, the drop rate will be much higher. You won’t need to suffer the nightmare I had.
