I don’t know which enemy faction in Destiny is more ruthless, the Vex, or the Hive. Not only do the Hive worship darkness but their whole way of life is destroying other civilizations throughout the galaxy. They base their entire existence around the extermination of other forms of life, especially those that follow the way of Light and the Traveler. To the Hive, killing and conquest are not merely acts of war, but of worship.

The Hive has an interesting back story and here are some facts about them: (Source destinypedia.com)

The Hive are very old

The first true Hive was created billions of years ago on a gas giant planet known as Fundament when a rocky planet carrying the early form of the hive collided with Fundament and shattered.

The Dreadnaught was created from a Worm god

The Dreadnaught was created by Oryx billions of years ago after he killed Akka, one of the worm gods, carved it from a piece of Akka, and crafted armor for it using the Hammer of Xivu Arath and the Scalpel of Savathûn. May explain why the Queens’ attack on it had no effect.

Oryx was born female

The Hive

Oryx was born Aurash. He became Auryx after the worm gods, who were trapped by the Leviathan and the Traveler on Fundament, offered Aurash (and her sisters) immortality if they would allow themselves to be hosts for the Worms’ larvae, with the caveat that if the sisters ceased to obey their natures, their Worms would consume them. They Accepted.

He became Oryx after he killed Akka, the Worm god after he realized that he and his sisters were deceived by the Worm. Their Worms appetites were growing past their ability to feed with death.

Hundreds of guardians were killed by Hive during The Great Disaster

The Vanguard was fresh off of a victory against the Hive at the Battle of Burning Lake. One that they barely won. The Vanguard felt they needed to overtake the moon. They ordered a full-scale assault on the Moon to establish a beachhead. Shaxx warned them that they should study the swords wielded by the Hive first and not be so quick to attack. Hundred of Guardians were killed by Hive led by Crota.

They couldn’t stop killing even if they wanted to

Hive lives by a religion they call Sword-Logic. According to the Sword-Logic, it is the ultimate goal of intelligent beings to challenge one another for the right to continue existing. Anyone who cannot defend themselves, whether it be a person, or a civilization, does not deserve to live and is fit to be obliterated.

Also, the hive has worms inside their bodies that they must constantly feed. Killing is the way they feed it. If they don’t feed it, they will become consumed. So for the Hive, killing is a means of survival.

Quick Plug: Dr. Squatch Soap Is Too Good and Needs to Be Nerfed

All this talk about Hive and worms is making me feel dirty. Maybe you feel a bit dirty too. Clean yourself off with Dr. Squatch soap.

I bought this soap finally after seeing the advertisements (I’m sure you’ve seen them too). Now I can’t use any other soap. This soap has changed my life and I think you should try it. I should warn you though, all other soaps will not be good enough for you afterward.

I like Pine Tar. It’s not as smooth as the other soaps but you can see the ingredients and the smell is amazing! I’m not sponsored by them by the way. Yeah… it’s that good.
