Monster Hunter World is Capcoms’ best selling game ever. It also has the largest margin of sales compared to previous versions in the history of the series (by far). Take a look at just how well it sold compared to the previous versions:

With that said, it’s safe to assume that a lot of you didn’t fight monsters in G-Rank from the previous versions. Since Master Rank is Monster Hunter World’s version of G-Rank, here are some things you can expect when it releases with Iceborne.

Harder hitting monsters

Just how hard will the monsters be? If you thought arch-tempered monsters were difficult, you’re in for a ride with Master Rank. Arch-Tempered monsters were high rank monsters. Master Rank is one step above high rank so some (if not all) of the monsters in Master Rank will be stronger than arch-tempered monsters.

Your current weapons and armor will be obsolete

When you first begin Master Rank you will probably need your arch-tempered armor just to stand a chance against the Master Rank versions of low tier monsters. In other words, you will need your arch-tempered Kulve Taroth armor just to be able to take an Anjanath in Master Rank.

You “will” need to fight low tier monsters in Master Rank before taking on some of the higher tier monsters. Weapons and armor in Master Rank will be significantly stronger than what we currently have. So basically, it’ll be like we’re starting from the beginning.

New weapons and armor that will be stronger and uniquely designed

As mentioned earlier, the weapons and armor in Master Rank will be significantly stronger. As far as the designs of these weapons and armor, don’t expect them to be just “slight variations” of other pieces. They are going to really bring out the drawing board for these. Take a look at some of the weapons armors they have shown so far.

We already are fully convinced that this is Master Rank Odogaron armor. As for the long sword, not too sure. Mosk-likely Anjanath.

Don’t forget the image they showed us back when they first announced Iceborne. We can see some master rank armors and weapons here.

Sub-Species | Monster Hunter World

G-Rank was usually the time where they bring in more sub-species. Just like the Azure Rathalos and the Pink Rathian. So we might see some blue Anjanaths and black Tobi Kadachis in Master Rank. Each will have their own weapons and armor but to craft them will probably require parts from the regular version of that monster.

Master Rank Most-likely won’t be available at the launch of Iceborne. You will need to finish the Iceborne story first. Monster Hunter World Iceborne releases September 6, 2019.
