So a while back I did a post on the Gridskipper and how it’s my new favorite pulse rifle. Since then, I’ve been farming for a god-roll Gridskipper. I’ve probably have farmed “at least” 50 of them by now.
I still feel this weapon is underrated, but maybe it’s a good thing. I wouldn’t necessarily want to see a Crucible with only Gridskippers. But in any case, I’ve been having a blast with it.
I tested several different roll combinations on it and there is a good selection of them. But there is one perk that I think you should use if you want to win most of your one on one gunfights. Especially for Hunters and I’ll explain why. That perk is Moving Target.
The God-Roll
First, let’s talk about the best perks for the first two columns as well as which masterwork you should go for. You want Smallbore and Richochet Rounds. The first stats you want to work on is stability and range. These two perks will put your weapon in the range/stability sweet spot for this weapon.
There are other perk combinations that will give you more range or more stability, but in both instances, your other stat will suffer. For example, there’s a perk combination that will push your range further but your stability will suffer. Same for the combination that pushes your stability further.
Masterwork
You want to go for a range masterwork. Your weapon already has a good amount of stability. Now we want to push that range as much as possible.
Moving Target
If you’re a Titan or Warlock, go for Heating Up. Killing Wind is good too. If you’re a Hunter, however, go for Moving Target.
The reason I suggest this is because Hunters generally invest heavily in mobility. I for one have a 100 in mobility. Pair that with Moving Target and you really become a hard target to hit. Especially if you know how to properly strafe while shooting.
On top of that, you get an increase in aim assist and movement speed when aiming down sights. This gun already has base 80 aim assist. So not only are you a hard target, you have things that will help you stay on target.
Of course, if you’re a Titan or Warlock you can give this a go too. Also, what I said is mainly for controller users. I can’t speak for PC. That’s a whole other beast right there.
Final Perk
I would go for High-Impact Reserves. I find myself in situations where I’ve defeated someone and immediately need to switch on to another target. That extra damage upfront evens the playing field if you took damage from the first encounter. And with Moving Target you have a high chance of winning.
So to sum it up, you want Smallbore, Richochet Rounds, Moving Target, and High-Impact Reserves. If you get one with Multikill Clip, Snapshot or Thresh, that’s fine too. Mine has Thresh which works out because my build has low Intellect. I would prefer High-Impact Reserves though.
