Zapdos is my favorite legendary. So naturally, out of all the Galarian versions of the 3 legendary birds of the Kanto region added to Pokemon Sword and Shield in The Crown Tundra expansion, this one is my favorite.
While regular Zapdos is stronger special attack wise, Galarian Zapdos is stronger physical attack wise so you’ll want physical attacks with this one. Galarian Zapdos is fighting flying and not electric flying like Zapdos. All this just means different strategies and weakness with this mon.
It’s signature move “Thunderous Kick” does damage and lowers a Pokemon’s defense by one stage. Using Galarian Zapdos as a counter to bulky wall Pokemon wouldn’t be a bad strategy. So with that said, here’s a good moveset for Galarian Zapdos in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Nature: Jolly
We won’t need special atk so lower it and increase the speed to allow it to outspeed as much as posible.
Choice Band would be a good item to use if you want to hit harder with its already high attack stat.
EV Stats: 252 atk / 252 speed / 4 sp def
Moveset
- Thunderous Kick
- Brave Bird
- U-Turn
- Stomping Tantrum
Thunderous Kick takes down walls. If you don’t want to use Zapdos as a wall breaker then go Close Combat. Brave Bird for that stab fighting move. Stomping Tantrum will give you that ground coverage, hitting mons like Aegislash.
