When I first started playing Monster Hunter Games, I found myself learning new stuff after hundreds of hours poured into it. In this post, I’m going to share with you 10 Tips for Monster Hunter Rise that will hopefully fill you in on any details you may have missed so far.

Tips for Monster Hunter Rise

Secret Creatures

Each locale has rare secret creatures that you can find, take pictures of to update your endemic life list and interact with by using the greeting command. I’ve created a video showing each location and will link it below.

Argosy

The argosy can be upgraded to 2 additional trade requests by completing the side quests Cultural Exchange and Economic Stimulation. These you get organically by playing through the game. For cultural exchange, you will need the wisplanterns from the shrine ruins and the boatshells from the frost islands. For economic stimulation, you will need the king rhino from the flooded forest, rock roses from the sandy plains, and bismuth prisms from the lava caverns.

Secret Armor Sets

That brings me to my next tip. You may want to upgrade those to have a better chance to get your hands on this somewhat secret armor set.

Tips for Monster Hunter Rise

One of the items you’ll need to craft this is Toxic Kumori, which you have a chance to get as a bonus item for sending your buddies out to find specific items. In my case, I sent them to find scatterfish but there are other items on the list that can award the item. There are other secret armor sets you can get from secret materials you find from sending out the Argosy and Meowsinaries.

Skip Cut scenes

You can hold the plus button to skip cut scenes. In multiplayer, however, everyone in the party will need to do that in order to skip the cut scene.

Item Loadouts

Be sure to create item loadouts. Item loadouts allow you to quickly refill your item inventory at the press of a button. Members of your party won’t need to wait for you to gather all your items after hunts.

Tranquilizers

If you want to capture a monster, consider using tranquilizers before trapping it. The tranquilizer effect lasts for a while and when the monster walks into the trap you set afterward the game will complete.

Speed Boost

While riding your palamute, if you press the ZL button when running, you will get a speed boost.

Charms

Be sure to buy the Powercharm and Armorcharm. These increase your attack and defense simply by carrying them in your inventory. They can be upgraded to Powertalon and Armortalon later on when crafted with the correct monster part for a larger boost to atk and def.

Lucky Life

You may have noticed something called lucky life while out on your hunts. That means you need to find a creature, which is usually a bird. If you find them, they will give you luck and do things like increasing the amount of money or Kamura points you get at the end of the quest.

Relics

If you find all the relics in a locale, you will be awarded carvings. You can use them as decoration in your home. I’ve created videos showing you the location of each in each locale here.
