Sandslash has been a favorite for many people throughout the Pokemon series. Battling with Sandslash has been very challenging due to the fact that you only have 450 stat points to work with and on top of that, Sandslash isn’t very fast or bulky. With the new Alolan Pokemon versions come new hope since Sandslash have a lot of resistances. We can finally come up with A Good Alolan Sandslash Moveset in Pokemon Sun and Moon.
Recommended Ability:
Slush Rush
Slush Rush is the hidden ability for Alolan Sandslash. During a hailstorm, the Speed stat of Alolan Sandslash is doubled. You also won’t take damage from hailstorm.
His default ability is Snow Cloak, which increases evasiveness in hailstorm, but Slush Rush is better because why hope that your opponent misses when you can out-speed them.
Recommended Moveset:
Icicle Crash
Iron Head
Earthquake
Sword Dance
Icicle Crash and Iron Head will of course both give you ice and steel stab moves but Earthquake will help you deal with any Pokemon that will tank both your ice and steel moves.
If you do want to go with the Snow Cloak ability, then you may want to try Ice Ball as one of your moves since it doubles in power each time you hit with it.
Recommended Item:
Life Orb
Life Orb increases the amount of damage each one of your moves do by 30 percent at the cost of paying a small amount of HP for each move used. Pair this with a possible Sword Dance and Slush Rush and you will be sweeping teams in no time.
You can also use choice band, which increases attack by 50 percent but only allows the use of one move.
Recommended Nature:
Adamant
Adamant increases attack and decreases the special attack stat, which is not a problem since you won’t be using any special attack moves.
Now this isn’t the complete set in stone/best Alolan Sandslash moveset. You can change a few things. For example, you can use Rapid Spin instead of Sword Dance if you want to remove any potential entry hazards like poison spikes.
Also, this moveset is assuming you have him on a Hail team. There are a few Pokemon, like Alolan Ninetails, that starts Hail upon entering battle with the ability Snow Warning. If you don’t have one on your team then just give Sandslash Hail instead of Swords Dance.
